Newspaper advertisement Production

The website www.channel4.com/about_c4/styleguide helped us a lot with the production of our newspaper advert. This included the size of the logo, where it is positioned and the correct font.

We took multiple pictures of our model and picked the one with the best framing and light. We then imported it into Photoshop. It took us a while to create the image we wanted to create, however with a combination of using the paint, smudge and blur tools we managed to create the effect of having no eyes.

  • The image should be striking and eye catching whilst summing the program
  • Text should provide the title, slogan and scheduling
  • The advert should also include the channel logo

Recording and editing the radio trailer

Today Charlotte and I went to the recording studio with our chosen person to record the voice over and radio trailer. We gave her the script which she read aloud and was then recorded into Adobe Audition. After we where happy with the recording we then transferred it into Adobe Premiere and edited the sound levels and cut the parts we needed to use. We then had to drag voxpops from our documentary into the radio trailer which we are going to use, however we only needed the audio so had to unlink the audio and image and delete the image.

Editing

Today Charlotte, Ashleigh and I made a lot of changes. We added more cutaways in the penny williams interview as her interview is long therefore it keeps attention and makes the documentary run more smoothly. We did this by unlinking the audio so that it could be deleted than add the image over the top. We also added on screen graphics which meant the audience knew who was being interviewed, also following the codes and conventions we dissolved the text in and out.

Scripting the voiceover

As a group we believed that a fact or statistic would fit well in our documentary. Therefore did research where we came across this website.

Editing

Today we changed the sound levels on our documentary. this is so that no parts of the documentary are louder than another part. this makes it sound more professional. Also we had to make sure the sound was at an appropriate level and not to loud. this meant we had to make sure it was under -6.

Editing

Today we continued to edit. One of the techniques we used today was shortening the opening titles by changing the speed and duration.

Editing

All three of us have begun to edit our documentary in Adobe Premiere Pro 1.5. We drag the clip we need onto the timeline then by referring to the edit decision sheet, cut the footage we need.

Research

For our research we have emailed Penny Williams from the guide dog association. She is willing to do the interview and we are now making final arrangements as to where the interview will take place. We then decided to look at the guide dog association website and used google maps to find out its exact location and what it looked like. This helped us make the decision to do the interview and arrange how to get to and from the interview.

Capturing the Beggining Sequence Footagee

Today we captured the footage me and Charlotte filmed yesterday however we experienced problems. The focus on the camera was set to manual therefore some shot where blurred. We will film the shots we can not use again.

Filming - Interview with penny williams
